From Independent Cleaner to Franchise Success: An Interview with our Cheltenham Franchisee

At Haus Maids, we love sharing the stories of our franchisees who inspire us with their dedication and success. Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Linnet, our Cheltenham franchisee, to learn more about her journey. From her beginnings as an independent cleaner to running a thriving franchise, Linnet’s story is a testament to the transformative power of hard work, community involvement, and the right support system.

Tell us a bit about yourself before Haus Maids.
I’m originally from Germany. We moved to the UK for my husband’s job, and I started cleaning independently. I soon found myself wanting to more, so I decided to explore ways to grow. That’s when I discovered Haus Maids on a Facebook ad—it felt meant to be, especially since “Haus” resonates with my German roots.”

What made you choose a franchise instead of continuing independently?
“I’m great at cleaning and working with people, but I didn’t know much about UK laws and business regulations. The franchise offered guidance, structure, and support. Starting in September 2019, just before COVID-19, I wouldn’t have survived without the help of Haus Maids Head Office. Their expertise and encouragement were invaluable during that challenging period.”

How has your team grown?
I started with one staff member and now have a team of eight and five cars. The cars are sign-written, which helps with advertising, and my staff don’t have to worry about vehicle maintenance or fuel. I love supporting them and ensuring they feel valued”

You’re also known for your community involvement. Can you share more about that?
We’ve done some incredible projects like participating in BBC DIY SOS cleans. I also sponsor a local girls’ rugby team in Cheltenham. It’s rewarding to support the community that supports us.”

What’s one decision that significantly impacted your business?
Moving from working at home to an office. It allowed me to separate work and family life and created a better space for my team. Another highlight has been the rugby sponsorship—it’s so much fun to see the girls play.”

If you could go back, is there anything you’d do differently?
I’d be a bit stricter sometimes. Being approachable is great, but I’ve learned the importance of setting clear boundaries.”

What advice would you give someone considering a Haus Maids franchise?
Don’t hesitate! The support you’ll receive is incredible, and being part of a network makes all the difference. Running your own business is rewarding, and the franchise model ensures you’re never alone.”

A Final Note of Encouragement

As the first recipient of the “Franchisee of the Year” award in 2022, Linnet is a shining example of what’s possible with hard work and the right support. Her story reflects the values at the heart of Haus Maids: community, dedication, and growth.
